The LIECHTENSTEIN MUSEUM ranks among the most precious private collections in the world and stands for top quality and variety in the field of the arts, thus preserving the valuable collections for generations to come. New exhibits are added on a regular basis.
All these art treasures that continue to be re-incorporated into the historical ambience of a residence of the Princely Family are to authentically communicate the history of the House of Liechtenstein and their understanding of art and themselves.
By relating the historical background of the collection to the life and times of the Princely House, the museum offers an overall experience along the lines of the ancient temples of the muses, in which all forms of artistic expression merge to form a comprehensive work of art.
The collections include works by early Italian artists that are not to be found in any other museum throughout Vienna, including examples of Bolognese painting in the 17th and 18th centuries, major works by Jan Breughel the Elder, Peter Paul Rubens, Anthonis van Dyck, Rembrandt and a number of Flemish and Dutch masters of landscape, genre and still life painting.
The historic gardens surrounding the LIECHTENSTEIN MUSEUM have been designed to offer visitors room to relax. And so do the museum cafes, restaurants and open-air dining areas located in this urban oasis.
