Enjoy romping around in the snow and warm yourself over a "Dirndl" punch - winter is cosy in the Pielach valley!
Pielach valley - the "Dirndl" valley!
Many thousand years ago, the Pielach river has already carved its way from the alpine valleys down to the fertile soils of the Mostviertel region. Like a photo book, its river banks tell stories: about the creative, life-rendering power of water, or about the careful relation of human beings with nature, delicious agricultural products and the time and pleasure taken in savouring them. About the Mariazeller train and countless pilgrims who have used the Pielach and Natters valleys for their pilgrimage to Mariazell since times immemorial. And of course about the "Dirndl" trees, growing wildly along the slopes of the valley, carefully tended to by their owners and harvested in autumn. Because the "Dirndln" - the flaring red cornel cherry trees - are a symbol of the natural abundance of the valley.
A magnificent landscape, a sound natural environment and the laid-back "Pielachtaler" - the locals from Ober-Grafendorf, Weinburg, Hofstetten-Grünau, Rabenstein, Kirchberg, Loich, Schwarzenbach and Frankenfels - cordially invite you to visit them in their valley - the Pielach valley!
