Lichtenau im Waldviertel

In the southern Waldviertel, between the towns Zwettl and Krems, at an altitude of about 542 to 718m, the market municipality Lichtenau is located.

The attractive, largely untouched countryside and numerous leisure time facilities offer you a great variety of possibilities for holidays or for short excursions.
Our tourism businesses, where the guest is still king, offer not only substantial dishes but also international cuisine. It ranges from the inn culture to the "Falstaff" awarded restaurant.
During the winter time, you can go cross country skiing, ice skating and curling or simply enjoy the maginficent winter landscape.

Nature, culture and creativity in the Waldviertel

Worth seeing are our museums and building memorials - like the former "artists garden Wietzen" with around 50 stone sculptures.

For creative ones, the internationally renowned painter N.G. Kern offers painting courses.
