Lilienfeld is the main town of the most densely wooded district of Austria. Schools, offices, doctors´ surgeries, a hospital, ... the 14 municipalities of the Traisental valley and the Gölsental valley find everything they need in Lilienfeld.

Besides, the green lungs of Lower Austria offer many interesting, well marked hiking paths, magnificent mountains, chair lifts, and in winter you can enjoy skiing at the 1.248m high Muckenkogel mountain (about 10 km of prepared slopes).

This charming town is also the cultural center of the upper Traisental Valley; the Cistercian Abbey, founded in 1202, is the largest medieval abbey of Austria.
